تُنگِ آب / شعر به دو زبان فارسی و انگلیسی / مجید نفیسی

تُنگِ آبم را نمی یابم.
آن را توی مهتابی گذاشتم
تا نیمه های شب كه بیدار می شوم
به غلغلِ آبش گوش دهم
كه از دلِ پاكِ زمین می گوید.

به مولای روم بگوئید:

از تشنگی بی تابم
اما آبی نمی یابم*.
من واژه ی "آب" را چون او
به فارسی و تازی
تركی و رومی می دانم
اما از دیدنِ رُخِ یار
در كاسه ی آب ناتوانم.

در مهتاب، سروهای تشنه
چون عابدانِ بیدار در نمازند
باشد كه كاریزكَنانِ كویر
از دلِ كركس و شیركوه
آبی به تشنگان برسانند.

در بسترم زنی خوابیده
كه از الهه ی آبها نشان دارد.
من صدای نفس هایش را می شنوم
اما سالهاست كه دیگر نمی توانم
چهره ی زیبایش را ببینم
یا پچپچه ی شیرینش را بشنوم.

 Water Jug

I cannot find my water jug

I put it on the moonlight porch

So when I wake up at midnight

I can listen to its gurgle

Talking from the heart of Earth.

Tell The Honorable Rumi

That I am dying from thirst

And yet cannot find water*.

Like him

I know the word for “water”

In Persian and Arabic

Turkish and Greek**

Yet I am unable

To see the face of the beloved

In my water bowl.

In the moonlight, dry cypresses

Are praying like nocturnal worshipers.

May the diggers of underground canals

In the Great Desert

Bring water to the thirsty

From the heart of Karkas and Shir Mountains.***

In my bed

There is a woman sleeping

Who has the signs of Goddess of Water****.

I hear the sound of her breaths

But for years could not see

Her beautiful face

Or hear her sweet whispers.

* Rumi (1207-73) says: “Look as little as possible for water! Gain thirst! / So that water will gush from high and low.”(Masnavi, Vol. 3)

** In the allegory of  “Fight over Grapes” (Masnavi, Vol. 2) to explain the oneness of God in all religions, Rumi tells the story of four men who receive a coin between them and all want to buy grapes. But each of them only knows the word for “grapes” in his own language and does not understand that the other men want the same thing, albeit with a different name.
